First held in 1978—three years before the formation of the Heard Nature Photographers Club—the contest has grown into one of the region’s most anticipated showcases of nature-inspired imagery.

You don’t need to be a member of the Heard Museum or the Photography Club to enter. This contest is open to all photographers in the United States. Whether you’re a seasoned professional or simply love capturing the wonder of nature with your camera, your vision belongs here.

From the earliest days of judging prints to today’s all-digital competition, the contest has evolved while staying true to its purpose: to inspire, to challenge, and to share the natural world through photography.
