Vitruvian Lights

  • Vitruvian Park 3966 Vitruvian Trail Addison, TX United States (map)

WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT:

The holiday season feels incomplete without its festive lights. The lights don’t get any more festive than at Vitruvian Park in Addison. The crowds attest to the beauty of the park in December. While it’s probably not a great idea to set up a tripod on one of the paved walks due to the crowds, there is plenty of room to set up a tripod on the park lawns. There are water features for spectacular reflections. This is a place where your creativity can run wild!

DINNER:

After two consecutive months of barbecue, I promised to have dinner at a non-barbecue place in December. So, we will exchange one Texas tradition (barbecue) for another (Luby’s). We will meet for dinner at Luby’s on Midway Road in Dallas at about 4:30 p.m. Everyone can find something good to eat at Luby’s. If you can’t make it for dinner, there are supposed to be food trucks around the park that night, but who doesn’t want to enjoy an evening of Luby’s nostalgia?

  • Starting at about 4:30 p.m.

  • Luby’s Cafeteria
    13455 Midway Road
    Dallas, Texas 75244
    (972) 386-0393

SUGGESTED EQUIPMENT:

  • Tripod

  • Remote Release (Wired or Wireless)

  • Wide-Angle Lens (A zoom lens adds flexibility.)

  • Depending on how and what you like to shoot, you may wish to bring along other lenses (Telephoto, Tilt-Shift, Lensbaby, etc.) or special effects filters (Star Filter, Mist Filter, etc.)

  • Extra Batteries and Memory Cards

  • Water

  • Warm clothing, since this will be a night shoot in December. Wearing layers is advisable since they can be added or removed as necessary. There is no way to know what the weather will be like this far in advance, so prepare for anything.
